AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF SIR A.I. ODIAGBE

Sir Andrew Isuekebhor Odiagbe , a Christian by religion and Knight of The Knighthood Order of St Paul Nigeria, a Professional Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, a registered member of the Finance Reporting Council of Nigeria, (F R C N), an Associate Member of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria ( C I T N ), a seasoned Accountant, a recipient of an award from the Uniben Pensioners Association who rose to the peak of his career in the University of Benin, a strong devotee of Esan Culture and an Author of eleven books and Audio CD in Esan Language, an articulate dynamic and promising entrepreneur trained in Uniben, and the President of Nature Capital Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd in university of Benin was born on the 25th of June 1954.

He attended Western Boys High School Benin City from 1968 to 1972 where he was a house prefect, Auchi Polytechnic Auchi from 1975 to 1979 where he was the Treasurer of the Student Union, Obafemi Awolowo University from 1984 to 1985 and University of Benin, Benin City from 1990 to 1993.
He obtained an O N D in Accounting in 1977, H N D Accounting 1979, Post Graduate Dip in financial Magt. 1985, M B A 1993, C N A 1994, F C N A 2006 and ACTI ( C I T N) 2015.

He started his working carrier on the 22 of July 1980 in University of Benin after his N Y S C at Abeokuta (1979/1980). He rose through the ranks to the top of his carrier. He worked in all sections of Bursary Department several times. He became a Chief Accountant in 1994 and worked as Head of Sections for 27 years (1992 to 2019) in all the Sections of Bursary Department at various times. Occasionally he took charge of the whole Bursary whenever the Bursar was on leave.

Sir A I Odiagbe served in many committees of the University just too numerous to mention. He attended many conferences, seminars, and workshops organised by the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (C I T N) and Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, in collaboration with private Agencies.
He was so dedicated and committed to his work that he got a commendation letter written on him to the Governing Council of University of Benin by the Federal Universities Pensioners Association Uniben Branch. This was in 2006 when he was Head of Pension Unit University of Benin.

NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT
Sir Andrew Isuekebhor Odiagbe did his National youth service in 1979/1980 at Abeokuta Ogun State.
He served as a Returning officer in Akoko Edo and Owan local Government Areas in 1999 in the election that brought in President Olusegun Obasanjo as the President of Nigeria, Lucky Igbinedion as the Governor of Edo State and others who contested elective positions into the National and State Houses of Assembly.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE IMMEDIATE ENVIRONMENT

• Sir A I Odiagbe studied the Esan Language privately. He studied amongst others the works of the following:
• Dr Christopher Gbelokotor Okojie, a pioneer of several books and articles on Esan Language. Dr Christopher Okojie was the Chairman of the Committee on Esan Orthography.
• Professor P. E. Ejele (a linguist by profession) of Language Department University of Port-Harcourt.
• Dr. O. S. B. Omoregie, a pioneer of several books and articles on Edo Language.
• The work of Engr. Edetanlen Akpede, the Author of a book titled UROLO ESAN.
• Consequent upon the above the following books were written for the children of Esan Land in this generation and generations yet unborn.

Sir A I Odiagbe formed the CENTRE FOR RSEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF ESAN LANGUAGE, in 2015. He translated the Nigerian National Anthem into Esan Language. In 2016, the Centre in collaboration with Ikolo Esan organisation organised workshops for the training of over 300 Teachers in Public Schools in Esan Land (Ekpoma, Irrua and Uromi) on The Structure, Teaching and Evaluation of Esan Language in our schools.

The books written by A.I. Odiagbe are approved by the Ministry of Education for use in Public primary and Junior Secondary Schools in Esan Land. Andrew Isuekebhor Odiagbe is the President and Co founder of Nature Capital Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd University of Benin, Benin City.
While serving as the President, his Administration embarked on the building of an Ultra Modern Event Centre for the Cooperative.He also carried out research for more investment in Benin City and environs.

LOCAL ENGAGEMENT
Sir A I Odiagbe is a Christian by religion and a member of the Knighthood order of St Paul Nigeria. He was the Auditor of the Order both at the Council as well as the Grand Council Level between 2010 and 2013. He was also the vice chairman of the Finance Subcommittee of St John Damascene Catholic Church Evbuomore Benin City between 2015 and 2019.
Sir A I Odiagbe is happily married with children.
